I believe this was the first time I physically got up and started walking away from my microphone as I was recording, ending up shouting my lines from another room. It worked well, and I started using the technique more often after this.

I based Zabini’s voice on Nikolai Jakov (the head of the KGB in Archer, and possibly Archer’s father). No particular reason, I’d just been watching a lot of Archer, and I really like that sort of laid-back Russian accent. Plus, as I’ve mentioned in other notes, I need some sort of rather distinct accent to keep supporting characters separate in my head.

I realize the numbering for these audio chapters doesn’t quite match the numbering of the text. It was my screw-up, and it’s too entrenched now to change it. Sorry for any inconvenience it causes.

I almost used The Grinch song for this episode, but I couldn’t NOT use a song from the HP Lovecraft Historical Society’s Solstice Carols selection. If you haven’t had a chance yet, check them out. It’s great stuff, IMHO.

On the heels of O Fortuna, I get to use the Imperial March as well? It’s like Christmas came early!

I’ve always always wanted to use O Fortuna in something. It’s the best Epic Music ever. But it couldn’t be done completely seriously, because it’s so over-used. It’s in everything from political ads to beer commercials. So when I saw “If it had been a play, there would have been dramatic music.” I knew exactly what I was going to do. There would, indeed, be dramatic music! Bwa hahahaha!
