It’s probably just a different piece of hardware that does the sending. Maybe a Tachyon Cannon cannot detect Tachyons. And if you put both in the same device you’d need to be careful about not accidentally scratching the Tachyon Cannon each time your very fragile Tachyon detector breaks. Also the combined device might not fit in a jeans pocket. You might want to always carry the Receiver with you, to get information like “duck” faster, but you can always put off sending stuff, so it’s enough to have it in your bag.
