I do believe the John Brown reference is for a man from the civil war era. It’s rather poinagnat since John Brown was famously anti-slavery and led a revolt before the civil war happened. John Brown and his few men took over an armory in Kansas, hoping to incite a revolution, no one rebelled and John Brown was hung by Robert E Lee’s men. He died, and saved none that he meant to save…. Doing what is right isn’t always what is possible, the lesson of John Brown.

  2. I thought Harry’s decision was pretty clearly wrong even with the information he had. Doing the right thing at the first chance you get is generally better than planning to do it later because any number of unknown factors could screw up your plan.

The fact that Harry lost his Phoenix and a much better chance of success and survival as a result of his decision serves to hammer in the point. Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity to do what’s right because you’ll just end up missing adequate opportunities.
