WTF is toxic positivity?
For arugments sake, please explain it to me. I am a 45 year old male from Germany. And here, we do not have that concept. ChatGPT claimed it could be a problem here too, but the only German language pages that had a definition were my public insurance giving a seemingly humans translation of the term. And commentary from the LLM was that it could also be a problem in Germany, in discussed in clincial or academic.
I have never heared of the term except for “ted lasso is male toxic positivity”, whereby you americans seemed to mean a funny always happy idiot like some mixture of Ned Flanders dumbed down to Homer J. Simpson. Incompetent but content and happy.
And now again in the Unum/Pluribus discussion.
That is an issue for no one in my country. We say “not saying something bad is enough of a praise” in work environments, for example. And have a reputation for being one of the worst nitpickers in the world. And are proud of it.
