Have you thought of making a Patreon page? I know you mentioned podcast being far, far away from full time job. But having a stable donations might help especially if you tie stretch goals to release frequency.
Or maybe you’ll just have a few free coffee cups a month, still a good thing right?

I don’t think a Patreon is feasible for a fanfiction project, due to all the Intellectual Property rights involved. I know some people skirt the law and collect money for this sort of thing anyway (who will remain unlinked, but they know who they are!), but I don’t feel that would be fair to the original creators, nor do I want to take that risk. Plus there’s all the other work that’s put out without profit – the original fanfic authors, the many volunteer voice actors, the SFX from FreeSound, etc. It’s a whole mess I’d rather not get involved in.
That being said, in July I will be putting out a small personal thing, so be on the lookout for that :)
